HOOKER EQUITY EXCHANGE HISTORY

The first meeting of the Hooker Equity Exchange was on May 8, 1915.  C.J. Highley, Henry Balzer, F.W. Thompson, F.W. Ferk and J.S. Golden were present with Highly elected President.

By-laws were adopted and a site for the elevator was procured at a meeting on May 15, 1915. A couple months later, George Meader was hired as the elevator’s first manager.

The first annual meeting of the Hooker Equity Exchange was held June 14, 1916 when the business was deemed a success.

A 40-foot scale was purchased in 1947 and the first concrete tanks were added to the original wooden elevator in 1953. The first concrete elevator was built in 1959 [with a capacity of 96,652 bushels.  Today with it's combined storage, the Hooker location can hold 5.8 million bushels].
