Settle Smoothly: Prepare Business Units and Splits Ahead of Harvest

May 16, 2025

By Nathan Flores, GCC Associate Grain Originator

As the harvest season approaches, we encourage all our producers to review their current business units. This includes assessing any new fields, sections, or landlords as necessary. Utilizing business units effectively tracks your grain, settles the bushels, and ensures your landlords receive their appropriate share of grain during settlement.

Business units are linked to your GCC grain account, allowing specific information to be printed directly on your tickets. We are happy to provide printed lists of all currently active business units and assist you with any adjustments needed for existing units.

We are also prepared to assist you with grain splits with your business unit. Please note that we will not process any splits or settle any grain without verifying your details. We encourage you to contact us by phone or visit one of our branch locations to speak directly with a member of our grain team.

Our team will work with you to:
  • Match your ticket totals with your physical scale tickets.
  • Confirm that the tickets are accurate under their designated business units.
  • Correctly address any required grain splits.
Once we complete this verification, we will streamline the process to provide precise Proof of Yield reports for your records or insurance documentation.

Please be aware that the current software systems at GCC track grain and agronomy splits separately. As a result, you must provide the GCC agronomy team with the specific splits you want applied to any agronomy-related products or services.

We value your business and are dedicated to providing clear and accurate services for your operation.
