Sunshine and High-Fives at Welcome In Wednesday

This fall, several GCC employees had the chance to volunteer their time to greet young students as they arrived at school. Dighton Elementary School started an opportunity called Welcome in Wednesday. How does it work? It’s pretty simple— local businesses within the community sign up for one Wednesday a week to participate. Employees volunteer their time standing at the school entrance with warm smiles, high-fives, and encouraging words as they welcome in students. Welcome In Wednesday volunteers create a positive and uplifting start to the day for every child walking through the doors.
Community partnerships like Welcome In Wednesday demonstrate the power of working together to support education. By showing up for students, local businesses help strengthen the connection between schools and the community, fostering a network of care that benefits everyone. At GCC, we’re commitment to supporting education, creating connections, and strengthening our communities, and Welcome In Wednesday is a great way to put that commitment into action. Our GCC team members were grateful for the opportunity to participate— sharing smiles and high-fives with the Dighton Elementary School students brought a little extra sunshine to their day!
