GCC Energy Introduces New “Diesel Aromatherapy Treatment™” Additives

Garden City, KS — GCC’s Energy Department is rolling out what petroleum staff are calling a first-of-its-kind innovation in fuel care and operator morale: a new Diesel Aromatherapy Treatment™ additive program.

Designed to improve diesel performance and make long days in the cab just a little more enjoyable, the new additive line will be available this season in three familiar, field‑tested scent profiles:

  • Fresh‑Cut Hay™
  • Pumpkin Spice Harvest™
  • Bacon Grease Classic™

The program began as a practical solution to everyday fuel challenges—keeping tanks clean, protecting injectors, and preventing winter gelling. Somewhere along the way, the team noticed something unexpected.

“It smelled… kind of good,” one petroleum specialist said. “And once we noticed that, we figured—if we’re already taking care of the fuel, why not take care of the operator too?”

The additive blend helps clean tanks and fuel lines while stabilizing diesel in cold temperatures, reducing the risk of gelling during winter operations. The aromatic component—internally referred to as a ‘micro‑infused vapor enhancement’—adds a subtle scent without affecting engine performance.

Each option is inspired by co‑op country favorites. Fresh‑Cut Hay™ captures the smell of summer baling season. Pumpkin Spice Harvest™ brings a warm fall aroma with notes of cinnamon and clove. Early testing, however, suggests the clear favorite may be Bacon Grease Classic™.

“There’s something about fueling up at 5:30 in the morning when it smells like breakfast,” the petroleum team noted. “That’s a morale booster.”

The Diesel Aromatherapy Treatment™ additives will be available at participating GCC locations beginning April 1, with members able to choose their preferred scent for treated diesel or bulk deliveries.

Additional scent profiles currently in R & D include:

  • Rain on Dry Dirt
  • New Tractor Smell
  • Fresh Coffee Shop

Petroleum staff emphasized that while the scents are new, the performance standards are not. The additives continue to meet all fuel quality requirements and deliver the same protection against fuel breakdown, contamination, and cold‑weather issues members expect.

“For years, we’ve helped protect engines,” the team said. “Now we’re helping protect noses too.”

One note of caution: while Bacon Grease Classic™ has tested extremely well with operators, it may also attract extra attention from barn cats and hungry farm dogs.

Traditional diesel treatments will remain available for members who prefer the classic aroma of No. 2 diesel—complete with subtle notes of dust, iron, and hard work.

And yes… the release date is April 1. 😄. Watch the video for more.

Wanting to capitalize on corn futures price seasonality? There is no better way to do it than with GCC’s Summit Max contract. Our unique Summit Max contract helps to give our farmers the opportunity to take advantage of this peak pricing window for corn or milo.

Planting a crop isn’t as simple as dropping seeds in the ground and hoping for rain. For corn to reach its full potential, conditions have to be almost Goldilocks perfect—soil temperature, planting depth, moisture, nutrients, seed protection, growth products, and weed control all have to be just right and timed carefully. Miss the mark on any one of those, and yields can suffer before the plant ever breaks the soil. That challenge is made even tougher by today’s high input costs, where every decision is a financial gamble and farmers are trusting that Mother Nature will cooperate months down the road. That’s where GCC and our experienced agronomists come in—working alongside farmers to help plan, manage, and fine tune their operations so they’re set up for the best possible outcome. Farming isn’t something you can casually try; it takes precision, expertise, and teamwork, which is why planting season can be one of the most stressful—and most important—times of the year.
