MARKET UPDATE: March corn futures were up 3 ¾-cents to a settlement price of $4.4725. Tuesday’s wheat market rally, driven by reports of a Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian tanker ship, took corn futures with it, however upside momentum quickly evaporated on Wednesday. Strong export demand and cash market strength have continued to provide corn futures with some support as traders anticipate the USDA Supply and Demand report set to be released next Tuesday. Analysts anticipate more downward revisions to corn numbers. January soybean markets were up 3 ¾-cents to $11.1925; March futures were up 3 ¼-cents today to $11.2875. A lack of additional sales announcements to China has weighed down soybean futures this week. Traders remain skeptical that China can hit their 12 MMT target before the calendar year ends, while it’s a steep goal, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. March wheat futures were up 4 ¼-cents to $5.34 at the close today. Like corn, Tuesday’s rally, driven by tensions overseas, was short-lived. United States all-wheat crop hit a nine-year high this year. Global production is expected to climb to a record high for the sixth consecutive year in 2026. Ample US supplies, coupled with bearish fundamentals, continue to limit wheat market upside potential.
EXPORT SALES AND INSPECTIONS: Corn export sales totaled 78.5 million bushels this morning, a 27.3 million bushel increase when compared to the running 10-week average. Current week export inspections totaled 66.8 million bushels. Soybean sales totaled 45.9 million bushels this week. Soybean export inspections for the week were reported at 29.7 million bushels. Wheat export inspections were reported at 17.7 million bushels and export sales totaled 18.6 million bushels, sitting in-line with USDA estimates this week and 1.1 million bushels above the running 10-week average. Milo sales totaled 4.7 million bushels this week and export inspections were reported at 2.9 million bushels this week. Milo remains 23% below the marketing year-to-date sales relative to the seasonal pace needed to reach USDA targets and 14% below year-to-date inspections.
CROP PROGRESS: Crop Progress USDA released the final weekly Crop Progress report for the 2025 season on November 24th. Weekly reports for 2026 will begin in early April. As of the 24th, harvest across Kansas was all but complete with corn at 95% complete and milo trickling in at 88% finished. All Kansas winter wheat is in the ground with 90% emergence. Kansas is above the national average condition with 62% rated good to excellent in the state and only 48% nationally.
WEATHER: Weather Skies today are partly cloudy with a high near 38°F. Tonight clouds will clear off with low temperatures near 20°F. Friday will be warmer with a high of 49°F, becoming cloudy in the afternoon. Friday night will be partly cloudy with a low of 23°F. The weekend stays warmer with highs of 54°F on Saturday before lowering to 42°F on Sunday. Overnight lows remain near 20°F. Early next week looks to be sunny with highs in the mid-50s.
