Pre-Pay Deadline for Seed is Approaching
Oct 06, 2023
By Logan Dreiling, GCC Seed Manager
It's that time of year again when wheat drills are in the field and fall harvest is in full swing. As the days grow shorter and the temperatures begin to drop, it's a reminder that it's time to start thinking about securing your corn and milo seed for the upcoming year. In the world of agriculture, planning ahead is crucial, and booking your seed well in advance is a key part of that preparation.
The first pre-pay deadline for corn and milo seed is rapidly approaching in mid to late October. For farmers looking to maximize their yields and ensure a successful 2024 planting season, now is the ideal time to book. We’ve taken out several dryland corn plots that yielded surprisingly well considering the August heat wave (I have that plot information if you’re interested in the results). In the next few weeks, we will be taking out our irrigated corn plots. There are some new Dekalb varieties in plots that look promising; we’ll just have to see what the harvest results are.
By securing your seed early, you're not only making a smart financial move, but you're also taking a proactive step towards a successful harvest. It allows you to plan your planting schedule with confidence, knowing that your seed is already reserved. So, don't hesitate to reach out to me to make sure you're set up for a productive and profitable year ahead.
I’m looking forward to sitting down with you and getting your corn seed lined out for next year!
