When Learning Takes Root: GCC’s Mission in Action
Jun 20, 2025

By Annie Gerber, Talent and Partnership Coodinator
At the heart of every strong community is a commitment to its people—especially its youth—and a shared curiosity for learning. At GCC, we’re proud to invest in that future by opening our doors, sharing our story, and helping people of all ages connect with agriculture and the cooperative way of life.
This year, we’ve placed a special focus on creating meaningful, hands-on experiences that bring agriculture to life. From curious preschoolers to high school students exploring career paths—and even adults eager to learn where their food comes from—we’re making agriculture accessible, engaging, and relevant.
These aren’t just outings, they’re powerful opportunities for real connection and learning:
Facility Tours – Students get a behind-the-scenes look at our grain and agronomy operations, learning how our team works together to support local farmers and feed communities near and far.
Downtown Discovery Days – We introduce youth to GCC and the role agriculture plays in their lives, sharing our story and showing all parts of the agricultural industry.
Engaging All Ages – From preschoolers exploring with wide eyes to high school students finding inspiration for future careers, we’re planting seeds that grow into understanding, confidence, and connection.
We believe in showing our youth that they matter—that opportunity exists right here at home, and that their community is rooting for them every step of the way
We’re excited to keep the momentum going—especially this year as we celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives. This global celebration highlights the power of co-ops to build a better, more inclusive future. By investing in education and outreach today, we’re helping cultivate informed, engaged communities that embody the cooperative principles of learning, collaboration, and shared success.
If you’re interested in joining us for an upcoming event—or know of one that aligns with GCC’s mission and values—we’d love to connect with you!
